Yesterday morning my wife and I exchanged Christmas presents. She spoils me however she did not go overboard and buy me any unnecessary or an excessive amount of gifts. I was thankful for each and every one!

Only a few hours later, we were talking to our family on the phone and I was asked the question, “what did you get for Christmas?”

I had trouble remembering it all!

Now if I really pressed and thought about it, I believe I could tell you everything I received for Christmas…Yesterday. However I am not as confident in my ability to recite all of my presents from Christmas one year ago. Five years ago? No chance!

What I recall from Christmas pasts are the love and warmth I received from family members and dear friends. As a former athlete and current coach, I can’t recall each and every play, and will admit that the games start to blur together as the years go by. However I will always remember the interactions with teammates and coaches. As Kenny Chesney says, “That’s the good stuff.”

Today (and everyday) be intentional about showing your love and appreciation toward others.
